2026-2027 R. G. E. Murray Lectureship

Dr. Sarah Fortune is the John LaPorte Given Professor of Immunology and Infectious Diseases and Chair of the Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She also serves as Director of the Tuberculosis Research Program at the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard. An internationally recognized physician-scientist and immunologist, Dr. Fortune's research focuses on Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium that causes tuberculosis (TB), with particular emphasis on bacterial persistence, drug resistance, host-pathogen interactions, and the development of improved therapies and vaccines.

Dr. Fortune earned her B.S. in Biology from Yale University and her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, followed by residency and fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at Brigham and Women's Hospital and postdoctoral training at Harvard. A highly accomplished researcher, Dr. Fortune has published extensively in leading scientific journals and has received numerous prestigious awards and honors, including support from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, National Institutes of Health (NIH) programs, and the Burroughs Wellcome Foundation.
