Student Stipends and Finance

Basic stipends for the duration of the residency period of their graduate degree program*.

The minimum level of financial assistance provided to domestic MSc students in Microbiology & Immunology is $20,000.

The minimum level of financial assistance provided to international MSc students in Microbiology & Immunology is $33,000. The higher levels of financial assistance is to compensate for the higher rates of international student tuition.

The minimum level of financial assistance provided to domestic and international PhD students in Microbiology & Immunology is $30,647. This financial assistance package includes a teaching assistantship for all PhD students.


*MSc students in good standing are guaranteed financial support for up to 6 terms. PhD students in good standing are guaranteed financial support for up to 12 terms. Students who transfer from the MSc to the PhD program are guaranteed financial support for up to 15 terms. Beyond the guaranteed funding periods continued funding is at the discretion of the supervisor.

Financial assistance levels increase when a student is awarded a scholarship. In this way, academic achievement is rewarded with financial incentives (see examples below; More details are available upon inquiry). We strive to ensure that our graduate students are as competitive as possible for scholarship funding and our success rate is high. Students are encouraged to apply for Departmental, the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University and External scholarships and awards.
