Postdoctoral Scholar Faculty Representative

Current Rep: Karine Dufresne – kdufres3@uwo.ca

Responsible for preparing reports for and attending all faculty meetings (typically monthly) and conveying any pertinent updates, questions or concerns from the postdoc body to the faculty. Furthermore, is responsible for relaying all faculty discussions and decisions concerning postdoc-specific issues to the postdoc body.

Appointments Committee Representative

This postdoc representative is a member of the faculty Appointments Committee and is responsible for attending meetings with regards to hiring of new faculty members, as well as attending appointment seminars.

Seminars Committee Representative

The representative on the Seminars Committee is responsible for attending meetings throughout the year to discuss potential speakers for the R.G.E. Murray Seminar Series.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee Representative

Current Rep: Vacant

The representatives on the EDI committee are responsible for attending and participating in departmental EDI committee meetings (~4-6/year) and serving as the EDI representative on ad hoc committees if required. EDI committee representatives should make themselves available to receive notifications of concerns from the MNI graduate students. Concerns should be relayed to the EDI committee which will consult to propose solutions. Representatives will help the EDI committee identify EDI barriers that may affect graduate students and PDFs and propose solutions for the removal of the barriers. Representatives will help estimate the EDI landscape among their peers. This position is open to any graduate student or PDF in MNI.

Infection and Immunity Research Forum Committee Postdoc Representative

The Infection and Immunity Research Forum is an initiative organized by the graduate students of the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Western Ontario. Prominent scientists are invited to present their research within the scope of infection and immunity. This research forum also provides graduate students and post-doctoral fellows with a platform to showcase their own research, by means of oral and poster presentations, as it pertains to the theme of infection and immunity. Volunteers are always welcome.
