Admission to Year 2 - Honours Specialization in Neuroscience

See the Course and Module Updates page for changes proposed for admission to year 2 for the 2024-25 Academic Year.

ITR Information Sessions for students going into Yr 2 Neuroscience

A maximum of 30 students are admitted to Year 2 each year.

The 30 students are selected on the basis of the average achieved in the 4.0 first-year principal courses as outlined in the Admission Requirements in the Academic Calendar (biology, chemistry, math, data science and psychology). An average of at least 75% must be achieved on the 4.0 courses and the average may be higher if more than 30 qualified students submit an Intent to Register (ITR) for the module.

Preference is given to students who:

  • do not repeat any of the principal courses (and/or the first-year physics requirement),
  • submit an ITR for Neuroscience as their First Choice,
  • complete all 4.0 principal courses by the end of the Fall/Winter term, i.e. prior to the adjudication period in May.

Note:

  • the faculty/program in which a student is registered in Year 1 (e.g. Medical Sciences 1 or Year 1 Science or Year 1 Social Science) is not taken into consideration when students apply for admission to Year 2 of the Honours Specialization in Neuroscience.
  • preference is not given to students who carry a full load of 5.0 courses during the Fall/Winter of first year.

More detailed information about the admission process to Year 2 can be found on the Adjudication page.

See the Intent to Register page for infomation about declaring your interest for admission to year 2 of the Neuroscience program.
