Funding Opportunities

  • Department conference registration fund - Residents can receive up to $400 for each full year of residency (PGY1 - $400; PGY2 - $400; PGY# - $400) for conference registrations. This does not include travel nor accommodation costs. In the link, please scroll down to Conference Reimbursement Expense Claims.

  • Department Research Trust Fund - Residents can apply for project funding through the Department Research Trust Fund. Examples of submission requests might include: printing/finishing services for handouts, subscription to software such as SPSS, poster printing for conferences, etc. Do NOT apply to this fund for travel/accomodation or to use the funds to hire individuals to work on your project other than for transcription or translation.  Applications can be submitted at any time during the year. There are three review cycles each year (meetings in March, May, and November) 

  • Postgraduate Medical Education awards - Resident/Fellow Travel Reimbursement Fund (typically due April and October)

  • Resident Project Day Poster printing fund - Residents can receive funding for their poster printing costs associated with Resident Project Day. You will be emailed with additional detail if you are a poster presenter.

Awards

  • Family Medicine awards - Notable awards for scholarship: Best Resident Research and Overall Projects (no application needed), Resident Project Day awards (no application needed)
  • Postgraduate Medical Education awards - Notable awards for scholarship: PSI Foundation/RCPSC Annual Resident Research Award (typically due in May), Resident/Fellow Travel Reimbursement Fund (typically due April and October)
