Dr. Craig T. Lamont Fund Guest Speaker
The 2026 Regional Academic Summit begins on Thursday evening with a keynote by Will Bynum, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Family Medicine, Duke University School of Medicine.
Will Bynum, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine and a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He received his M.D. at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2010, completed his residency with the US Air Force and received his Ph.D. in Health Professions Education at Maastricht University in the Netherlands in 2023, where defended his thesis entitled “Out of the shadows: a qualitative exploration of shame in medical learners”, which was awarded best Doctoral Dissertation by the Association for Medical Education in Europe. He has published and spoken widely on the topic of shame and is Co-Founder and Co-Director of The Shame Lab, which conducts research, develops training, and delivers consultancy to advance constructive engagement with shame in professional practice.
Friday offers a full day of conference-style sessions covering clinical and educational topics.

Dynamic Simulation's SIM+ Procedural Skills
Credits: 8 Mainpro+ Certified Assessment Credits + 8 Mainpro+ Certified CreditsThis course is limited to 10 participants
Morning: Simulation-Based Resuscitation Training
Participants will participate in four advanced simulation scenarios drawn from a bank of over 40 complex cases. Sample scenarios include:
- Pediatric trauma
- SCAPE (Sympathetic Crashing Acute Pulmonary Edema)
- Pediatric septic shock
- Calcium channel blocker overdose
Each case is designed to challenge participants in team-based, high-stakes environments, with a focus on decision-making, communication, and leadership in critical situations.
Afternoon: Hands-On Procedural Skills Training
Focused, small-group training on key emergency procedures, selected based on a needs assessment. Example topics include:
- Awake intubation
- SALAD (Suction-Assisted Laryngoscopy and Airway Decontamination)
- POCUS-guided central line insertion
- Mechanical ventilator setup and troubleshooting
- Blakemore insertion
- Lumbar puncture

Poster Guidelines
When preparing your poster for presentation, please adhere to the following guidelines to ensure compatibility with the available resources:
- Maximum Poster Size: Your poster's maximum size should not exceed 48 inches in both width and height. The recommended size is 4 feet by 3 feet (48 inches wide by 36 inches tall).
- Consider Layout and Design: Utilize the given space effectively to create an engaging and visually appealing poster. Make sure the content is easily readable from a reasonable viewing distance, and include clear headings, sections, and visuals to organize your information.
- Mounting: Use Velcro fasteners to attach your poster to the board. These will be provided to you on the day of the event. This ensures a secure and damage-free attachment method that allows for easy removal and rearrangement.
