From the Desk of Dr. Quiñonez

September 2022

Dr. Carlos QuiñonezWelcome back, everyone. It has been exciting to see campus so busy as we begin another academic year. My family and I have settled in, and everyone in the Schulich and Western community has been incredibly gracious and welcoming to us. Some are lucky I didn’t take them up on their generous offers of helping me move furniture and boxes! Joking aside, we feel very lucky to be part of the London community and look forward to many happy years ahead.

Our first event of the year was the Schulich Dentistry White Coat ceremony, and it was a heartfelt celebration of the classes of 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026. Many of the dignitaries who attended from the ODA, CDA, RCDSO, and ACD commented on the vibrancy of our community. I was supremely impressed by the hard work of staff who, in the end, made it look easy, but I can tell you, it was far from! You can see more about the event here.

For those that weren’t there, I want to reiterate what I said at the White Coat ceremony. Every morning, I want you to ask yourself: Why am I here? The answer is simple and is captured by our mission and vision: To be of service, and to be the best. It is these principles that will carry us to great things, so repeat them to yourself and each other often.

I’m also excited about how the renovations to our operatories are coming along. Through the tireless work of many, we are better than we were yesterday, and I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunities this will bring to patient care and to student education. You can read more about that and see photos of our progress here.

In closing, I have now had the chance to meet with many in the dentistry community, and I want to reiterate that my door is always open to you. I want to hear what you have to say. So please feel free to reach out to me directly or ask Sherri Moore to set up some time.

Thank you,

Carlos.
