1930-2023

Dr. Jack Leroy Sales grew up in Southwestern Ontario farm country in the 1930’s.  Dr. Sales graduated from medical school at the University of Western Ontario (UWO) in 1955 and then pursued surgery and urology training at UWO and the University of Toronto respectively.  Following a McLaughlin Travelling Fellowship, which included tutelage under Dr. Victor Marshall, Dr. Sales started his Urology practice at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London, Ontario and UWO rising to the rank of Associate Professor.  With his expertise in the field of Endourology and percutaneous urolithiasis management, Dr. Sales together with his colleague Dr. John Denstedt established St. Joseph’s Health Care London as major tertiary referral centre for extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy and Endourology stone management for Ontario.

Dr. Sales was President of the Canadian Urological Association (CUA) in 1999, presiding over what most members considered “the finest CUA meeting ever” in London, Ontario.  He was past president of the Northeastern Section of the American Urological Association (NSAUA) from 1988-89 and an Honorary Member of the American Urological Association (AUA).  Dr. Sales also received a Distinguished Service Award from the AUA.

His career interests were general urology and endourology.
