As an academic program within the Department of Surgery at Schulich, the Division of Urology is actively engaged in impactful and cutting-edge research in various subspecialty disciplines. A wide array of clinical trials is ongoing involving division members. A sampling of some current trials include:

  1. Evaluation of novel pharmaceutical agents in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer
  2. Evaluation of novel pharmaceutical agents in the treatment of advanced kidney cancer
  3. Assessment of the role of bacteria in kidney stone development
  4. Potential role of probiotics in the prevention of urinary tract infections in children
  5. Assessment of various medical treatments for urinary voiding dysfunction

 

There are 3 full-time basic scientists within the program, and a number of other collaborating PhD researchers who are actively involved in urological research including:

  3. Urinary stone formation
  4. Erectile dysfunction
  5. Probiotic development
  6. Surgical device development
