Description of Award

This is an award created in the memory of Denise Power who worked in the Cancer Research Laboratory Program as an Administrative Assistant from 1990-2013. It honours the contributions of truly dynamic, hardworking individuals working in Cancer Research. The candidates for this award have made significant contributions not only to the research group to which they are affiliated, but also to the greater Cancer Research Laboratory Program (CRLP) / London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP) work environment.

Eligibility

All staff members working in the Cancer Research Laboratory Program (CRLP) and/or the Department of Oncology are eligible, regardless of whether they are employed by LHSC, LHRI, or Western University. Trainees (undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral and clinical fellows, residents, volunteers) and faculty members (full-time or part-time) are NOT eligible. Research coordinators/associates, research assistants/technicians, administrative staff members, core facility and service staff members, and the like ARE eligible.

Notes

An Award may not be granted every year. The Award recipient will receive a Staff Award of Excellence with their name engraved on a plaque and public recognition at the Oncology Research & Education Day held in June.

Nomination Procedure

To nominate a staff member for this award, submit an electronic copy of a nomination package (one PDF file) which includes the following materials:

  1. A letter from the nominator that summarizes how the individual consistently provides outstanding contributions during their workday, directly or indirectly, to the learning and working environment, at a level significantly beyond what is usually expected. For example, has the nominee made a difference within the Cancer Research Laboratory Program/Department of Oncology/Cancer Research Unit with a positive attitude, respect, compassion and empathy? Proven that they are a reliable team player, dependable and co-operative?
  2. Nominations should not exceed 1 written page.
  3. Nominations may also be supplemented by the inclusion of up to 3 additional letters of support.
  4. Nominators must complete all documentation and submit full package by Friday, May 10, 2024 at 12pm (Noon) EST.


Presentation of Award

Recipients will be presented with the Award at the Oncology Research & Education Day held on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

Deadline for Award

The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 10, 2024 by 12:00pm (noon) EST.
