St. Thomas

As a community training site, the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) participates in Distributed Education, providing educational opportunities for medical students and residents.

Just moments from the highway 401 corridor and a 30-minute drive from London in the heart of Southwestern Ontario, St. Thomas is a vibrant community with new commercial and residential growth where affordable housing and quality schools are abundant.

Surrounding St. Thomas and its population of more than 35,000 people are numerous picturesque towns and lakeside villages, each with its own unique charm. Neighbouring beaches such as Port Bruce, Port Burwell, Port Glasgow, and Port Stanley offer both quiet retreats and bustling crowds. In the mainly rural Elgin County, there are many conservation areas and trails for hiking and other outdoor sports.

St. Thomas and Elgin County offer unique dining experiences, festivals, herb and honey farms, apple orchards, historic sites, museums, art galleries, farmer’s markets, one-of-a-kind shops, wineries, and much more.
