Grey Bruce Health Services (GBHS) operates six hospitals offering in-patient primary care, diagnostic support, palliative care, and a range of ambulatory care services. GBHS has sites in Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Owen Sound, Southampton, and Wiarton. As part of GBHS, Owen Sound Hospital is a community training site, participating in Distributed Education, providing educational opportunities for Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry’s students and residents.
The city of Owen Sound is the largest urban community in Grey and Bruce Counties with a population of more than 21,000. Located on the southern shores of Georgian Bay in a valley below the sheer rock cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment, Owen Sound boasts a magnificent harbour and bay, two winding rivers, an extensive parks system, and tree-covered hillsides and ravines. Accommodations
The Distributed Education program provides reimbursement for travel expenses and fully funded designated accommodation in the community. In Owen Sound, accommodation is offered in a furnished house near the hospital.
