Dr. Sheila Butler completed her undergraduate degree at the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil in 2003. Dr. Butler received her Master’s degree in 2007 and her PhD degree in 2010, both in Restorative Dentistry, specialty: Prosthodontics. Dr. Butler pursued her post-doctoral training in Prosthodontics at University of Alberta, from 2011 to 2015 and then received an offer to join the faculty team. She became an Assistant Professor in Prosthodontics at University of Alberta and then she accepted an offer from Western University where she is an Assistant Professor in Prosthodontics since July 2017.

Dr. Butler is a prolific contributor to the scientific literature. Her research is internationally recognized and she has several publications in prestigious journals. Her research expertise includes dental ceramics and resin cements. She also presents her work in dental conferences, such as International Association for Dental Research and Academy of Dental Materials. She often attends clinical conferences as well, such as Symposium on Ceramics and Symposium on Implants. Dr. Butler has enthusiasm and passion for treating patients, for teaching and for research.
