Biography

Dr. Tammy Symons, MD, FRCPC is an Assistant Professor in the department of Anesthesia and
Perioperative Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University.

She obtained her medical degree at Western University, then joined the Anesthesiology Residency
Program at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Following this, she returned to Western University to complete
a fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesia. During her fellowship she had clinical and research work
presented at the SOAP and CAS annual meetings. She also contributed to the successful application
of Victoria Hospital for designation as a SOAP 2018 Centre of Excellence for Anesthesia Care of Obstetric Patients.

Dr. Symons is currently in the process of completing a Master’s in Perioperative Medicine through
University College London as well as further training in perioperative Point-of-Care Ultrasound. She
also has a particular interest in medical education.
