Dr. Vivian McAlister named Officer of the Order of Canada
Dr. Vivian McAlister, Professor, Division of General Surgery, has received one of Canada's highest civilian honours. On December 30, 2020, the Governor General's office announced 61 appointments to the Order of Canada. Dr. McAlister was named an Officer of the Order for his, "seminal contributions to and leadership in the military and civilian surgical communities, as a medical practitioner, researcher and educator." A ceremony will take place at a later date.
Dr. McAlister has served in the Canadian Forces Health Services and received the Canadian Medical Association's John McCrae Memorial Medal in recognition of his service.
