The Department of Surgery plays a central role in providing surgical education to undergraduate medical students in years one through four at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, as well as to visiting Canadian and International medical students. Both surgical faculty and residents in the Department of Surgery are committed to providing the best possible educational experiences for students so they are able to develop and advance their surgical knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

Dr. Debra Bartley, a Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Department of Surgery, is the Associate Director of Surgical Education and she is committed to providing academic leadership in undergraduate surgical education curriculum and research activities.
