Neuroscience 2000 - An Introduction to Neuroscience

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the study of neuroscience and is a required course in Year 2 of the Honors Specialization in Neuroscience. The course capacity is 75 and enrolment is not restricted to students in the Neuroscience program.

Topics include molecular properties of neurons; neural plasticity; development of the brain and nervous system; sensory, motor and integrative systems; neural mechanisms of behaviour and cognition, including memory, language, and consciousness. Molecular and genetic techniques, electrophysiological recording, and brain imaging methods will be examined.

Prerequisite(s): Psychology 1000, Biology 1001A or 1201A, and Biology 1002 or 1202B, all with a mark of at least 60%
