I went to teacher's college to become a primary/junior teacher. I had always dreamed of teaching kindergarten. I was asked to cover an emergency sick leave in Neonatal-Perinatal medicine. That was in 2004 and I haven’t looked back!

We are a relatively small program, with 9 fellows currently enrolled, but there was only 1 when I started! I have historically supported all of the learners coming through the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, but am now dedicated solely to supporting the fellows. The majority of our trainees are international students and I enjoy meeting people from different areas of the world and learning about new cultures. I love seeing the impact that our program has on their lives and their home countries, when they return and share what they have learned.

My favourite part of my job is the fact that every day is busy and different from the last. I am blessed to work with a wonderful bunch of people that make those not-so-great days just a little bit brighter.

My idea of a perfect day can involve a variety of activities, including: having fun with my son, reading, family dinners, walking my dog and hanging out with friends.

Quick Facts:

  • Neonatal medicine is scheduled to transition to CBD in 2020.
  • We currently use One45 for evaluations.
  • I am a bit of a stickler when it comes to grammar!
  • My fellows describe me as approachable, helpful and (usually) cheerful.
