Dr. Laura Diachun is responsible for supporting residents in all matters related to well-being.  As a resident advocate, she serves as a primary contact and critical link between residents and program administrators for residents experiencing stress, academic difficulty, mistreatment, mental health concerns or physical illness.

Dr. Diachun is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Westwern University.  As a geriatrician, she serves older adults in both the outpatient and rehabilitation setting.  She is the current vice-chair and former chair of the Royal College Subspecialty committee for Geriatric Medicine in Canada, who lead the department of competence based education for her discipline.  She has years of experience on the Royal College Geriatric Medicine exam committee and was formerly the program director for Geriatric Medicine at Schulich.  Dr. Diachun is also actively engaged in undergraduate medical education as co-lead of geriatrics week, an academic coach and a Professionalism Careers and Wellness group facilitator.  

Dr. Diachun's research has focused on trainees' experiences with complexity and residents experiences with evaluation in competence based medical education.  She is a two time recipient of the Canadian Geriatric Society's Peter McCracken Physician Innovator in Education award.
