Yashoda Valliere awarded College of Family Physicians of Canada Medical Student Scholarship

At the recent Family Medicine Forum in Vancouver, BC from November 4 to 7, Yashoda Valliere, a Western medical student, was awarded one of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, Medical Student Scholarships.  A total of 17 are awarded, one for each Canadian medical school to outstanding medical students with an interest in family medicine.

Yashoda was a co-chair of Western’s Family Medicine Interest Group in her second year.  She has also conducted research under the supervision of Dr. Judith Belle Brown of the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine including qualitative research in the In-Hypo-DM study and the Engaging Family Physicians In Primary Care Change study. Yashoda’s research interests include palliative care, lifestyle medicine/behavioural change, and intrapartum obstetrics.
