Family Medicine Grand Rounds – Physical Activity Prescription in Chronic Disease: Pearls for Family Physicians

Join us on Wednesday, June 5 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. for Family Medicine Grand Rounds in the Western Centre for Public Health and Family Medicine Building, Room 1150.

Jane Thornton, MD PhD CCFP Dip Sport Med (IOC), Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic, will present, Physical Activity Prescription in Chronic Disease: Pearls for Family Physicians.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To provide initial assessment of current physical activity, risk factors and barriers to change for a patient with a chronic condition;
  2. Prescribe physical activity with consideration for several common conditions while addressing safety considerations, patient preferences, intensity time and activity type; and
  3. Incorporate practical resources and tools to promote sustainable changes in patients’ activity levels.

25% interaction will be included (45 min. presentation with 15 min. Q&A)

This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by Continuing Professional Development, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University for up to 1.0 Mainpro+ credits. Each participant should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent participating in the educational program.
