BIOSKETCH

Dr. Joseph Chin graduated medical school from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine and completed his Urology training at Western University in 1983.  He completed a Uro-Oncology Fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in New York State and a Renal Transplantation Fellowship at the University of Western Ontario before joining the faculty at Western in 1985 and retired in 2022.   Dr. Chin has over 350 publications, mostly in urologic oncology, with over 28,000 citations and h-index of 72.  Dr. Chin has been a Canadian leader in robot assisted prostatectomy and image-guided ablative therapies (cryosurgery, High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance-guided transurethral ultrasound ablation) for prostate cancer.

  • Received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of community services in the area of prostate cancer in 2012
