Medicine CTU - LHSC

This is an experience providing care to acutely ill patients admitted from the emergency room. These are complex patients with undifferentiated medical problems. There is a team of a senior (PGY3), one PGY2 Internal Medicine resident, and additional junior house staff including one to two PGY1 trainees and one to two clinical clerks.

Ambulatory General Internal Medicine - LHSC - Also known as Consults

This is an ambulatory experience available at both University Hospital and Victoria Hospital. This is a service providing consultations in Internal Medicine to patients who have been referred from the emergency room who need urgent consultation but not admission to hospital. The patients are acutely ill and for the most part, have complex undifferentiated problems. There are often one or more trainees at various levels and from either Internal Medicine or other departments participating in this rotation.

Cardiology - LHSC

This is an experience with both an ambulatory and inpatient component. The inpatients are admitted to the Ward with unstable angina, congested heart failure or arrhythmias. The Ward also receives patients once they are ready for discharge from the Coronary Care Unit. The ambulatory clinics are primarily focused on Coronary Artery Disease. There is usually more than one trainee on this service, often with one to two senior residents and on occasion, there is more than one PGY1 trainee.
