Artificial Intelligence in Primary Health Care (AI in PHC)

The Artificial Intelligence in Primary Health Care (AI in PHC) research project team (Co PIs - Amanda Terry, Dan Lizotte and Jacqueline Kueper; Co-Investigators - Ron Beleno, Judith Belle Brown, Sonny Cejic, Daniel Leger, Scott McKay, Andrew Pinto, Bridget Ryan, Moira Stewart, Merrick Zwarenstein; Knowledge Users: Janet Dang, Kathryn May, Silas Ng) hosted a virtual Stakeholder Collaborative Consultation on March 26, 2021. A total of 35 people attended including a mix of PHC providers, patients, decision makers, digital health stakeholders and researchers. Participants discussed their priorities for PHC issues that could be addressed by AI. PHC issues/areas that were seen as priorities for exploring AI solutions could be grouped into: those affecting the doctor’s practice (management of information, scheduling, triage for type of visit, clinical decision support); those that make life easier for patients (preventive care/risk profiling and reminders, self management of disease); and system related issues (system coordination, data sharing and interoperability among providers).

Thanks to everyone who participated and made the day such a success.
