Postgraduate Program update

CaRMS 2015:  We held the 2nd iteration interviews on Wednesday, March 18th.  We are very pleased that there were many strong candidates to fill the remaining 7 positions.  Fingers crossed for a successful match on April 14th, 2015!


Triple C Update:  The Residential Care EPA’s were determined at the Faculty Development session on March 11th, 2015.  They are as follows:

  1. Diagnose and manage chronic presentations in residential care.
  2. Diagnose and manage acute presentations in residential care.
  3. Diagnose and manage palliative and end of life care.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients, family, staff and allied health professionals.
  5. Provide wellness/preventive care including falls prevention.
  6. Recognize situations where care in the home/nursing home/LTC is appropriate.
  7. Provide appropriate telephone triage and recognize when an assessment is required.
  8. Perform common bedside procedures (eg. Venipuncture, etc).
  9. Provide care to marginalized populations.

Important Dates:

  • Resident Project Day will take place on June 10th.  This year will include our first cohort of Quality Improvement Projects.  We are looking for faculty to judge the oral presentations and posters for this day.  It will be a great event to celebrate the scholarly activity of our residents.
  • Resident Graduation will be taking place on June 19th, 2015.  Further details will be coming soon!
  • You will be receiving an email in the near future regarding awards that are given out at graduation.  Please consider putting forward a nomination to acknowledge the excellent work that our residents and faculty are doing.
