Dr. Anita Florendo-Cumbermack has a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Guyana. She completed her neurology residency training at Western University in 2014 followed by a Fellowship in Neuromuscular Disorders in 2016. She attained her Masters of Health Professions Education (MHPE) from Maastricht University in 2017. Dr. Florendo-Cumbermack joined the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences in 2016.
Dr. Florendo-Cumbermack has an interest in Neuromuscular Diseases with a focus on peripheral neuropathies and myopathies. She is a Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists (CSCN) certified electromyographer. She has a keen interest in medical education including education innovation, assessment and program evaluation in competency based medical education (CBME). She was the first CNS Neurology CBME Lead, then took over the role as the Neurology Program Director transitioning the program to CBME in 2020.
