Drs. Bob Kiaii and Michael Chu discuss a new generation TAVI device

In April of this year, cardiac surgeons Drs. Bob Kiaii and Michael Chu went to Germany to receive training on the implantation of a new transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) device, the ACURATE TA™ Aortic Bioprosthesis.

Shortly after their return they became the first in North America to use the device, and have successfully performed five more procedures in the last month.

At the moment LHSC is the only centre in North America where the ACURATE TA device is available.
