Dr. Dave Nagpal Featured: First-In-Canada Transplant Technology
Dr. Dave Nagpal (Associate Professor, Division of Cardiac Surgery) was recently featured in both The Globe and Mail and London Free Press following a landmark heart transplant procedure at the London Health Sciences Centre.
The London Free Press highlighted Dr. Nagpal and the LHSC transplant team in its coverage of Canada’s first heart transplant using the “heart in a box” technology. The Globe and Mail also featured Dr. Nagpal in its national coverage of the innovative procedure and its significance for a London patient.
The "heart in a box" is a cart-sized machine that allows donor hearts to receive and pump blood, doubling the organ's potential viability for transplantation to up to twelve hours.
