This award recognizes a family medicine researcher and member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) who has made original contributions to research and knowledge building for family medicine in Canada. The contribution may encompass any aspect of family medicine research, from clinical to health services to education. The award is supported by the CFPC’s Research and Education Foundation
August 17, 2016 Dr. Stewart Harris received the CFPC 2016 outstanding Family Medicine Research Article Award For “Impact of a quality improvement program on primary healthcare in Canada: A Mixed-method Evaluation”, published in Health Policy 119(2015) 405 – 416, judged to be the best research paper published in a national or international journal during the preceding year (2015).
August 04, 2016 Dr. Stephen Wetmore has been extended as the Chair/Chief of the Department of Family Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University and its teaching hospitals. London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph Health Care effective September 1, 2016 to August 31, 2017.
May 13, 2016 Dr. Stewart Harris, Professor, Family Medicine, and Canadian Diabetes Chair in Diabetes Management at Western University, receives the Order of Canada May 13, 2016 at Rideau Hall. Dr. Harris is being honoured for his contributions in developing strategies to manage and reduce diabetes in Aboriginal communities and other vulnerable populations.
