2012 Awards
Dr. Dana Winterburn Memorial Award
The award is given annually by the Citywide Department of Family Medicine in remembrance of Dr. Winterburn.
Dr. Catherine Walsh was the inaugural recipient of this scholarship in 2012. Dr. Walsh is a family physician practicing in London who provided palliative care at Parkwood Hospital for many years.
2012 Chiefs’ Recognition Award
The Award is presented to a physician member of the Citywide Department of Family Medicine who, in the opinion of the Chief(s), has made a significant contribution to the Citywide Department of Family Medicine in accordance with its mission statement and goals. In 2012, this award was presented to Dr. Bill McKeough.
Dr. McKeough is a past Site Chief, first at St. Joseph’s Hospital, then at University Hosptial. He oversaw the move of Family Medicine beds into University Hospital. His diplomacy and quiet skills managed make this transfer successful. It is one of the most important achievements of our Citywide Department.
2012 Consultant of the Year Award
The Award is presented to a Consultant at London Health Sciences Centre or St. Joseph’s Health Care, London, who, in the opinion of the Chief(s), demonstrates exemplary patient-centered service and communication to referring family physicians.
Dr. Bryan Dias is a cardiologist with privileges at London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London.
Dr. Keith Johnston Scholarship in Family Medicine
Awarded on an annual basis, the scholarship is intended to defray a worthy family physician’s expenses in completing a personal program of professional development for the duration of three or more working days.
In 2013, there were two recipients of the scholarship:
Dr. Scott McKay
Professional Development program: 2012-13 OMA-CMA Physician Leadership Development Program run in conjunction with the Schulich School of Business Executive Education Centre at York University.
Dr. Eric Wong
Professional Development program: Canadian Certified Physician Executive Credential offered by the Canadian Certified Physician Executive Program developed by the Canadian Medical Association and the Canadian Society of Physician Executives.
