North American Primary Care Research Group NAPCRG 2015

The 43RD North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) Annual  Meeting took place in Cancun, Mexico from October 24 – 28, 2015. The Department of Family Medicine and the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine were well represented. 

At the conference, Dr. Moira Stewart co-led an International Forum: Think-Tank on Outcomes for Patient-Centered Interventions for Persons with Multimorbidity. The summary, by Stewart, was quoted by Domhnall MacAuley in the CMAJ Blog.

WONCA (World Organization of Family Doctors) 20th Europe Conference October 22-24, Istanbul

Dr. Tom Freeman was one of two invited panelists at the 20th WONCA  Europe Conference October 22-24 in Istanbul. His invited presentation was on "Patient-Centeredness and Community-Centeredness − How to Deal with Diversity".

 

Dr. Moira Stewart gave an invited panel presentation on "Translational Research and Complexity of Care" at the 20th WONCA Europe Conference in Istanbul Turkey on October 23, 2015.

 

University of Toronto “Moving Forward with Behavioural Medicine: Teaching for the Future”

Judith Belle Brown, PhD was an invited plenary speaker at the “ Moving Forward with Behavioural Medicine:Teaching for the Future” one day conference hosted by the University of Toronto,  Faculty of Medicine , Continuing Professional Development on October 30.  Her presentation, “ What Helps Learners Become Patient-Centred? “given to over 100 teachers of behavioural medicine in family medicine examined the research evidence supporting this premise, as well as the powerful parallels between being patient-centered and learned-centered.  

 

Announcements

As of November 1, 2015, Judith Belle Brown  begins a two year elected term as the Vice Chair of the program committee for NAPCRG and serving on the board. The role includes planning for future meetings and meeting logistics.
