Announcement: Dr. Eric Wong appointed to position of Faculty Lead - Assessment, MD Program

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Eric Wong, MD, MClSc(FM), CCFP, FCFP to the position of Faculty Lead - Assessment, MD Program, reporting to Dr. Gary Tithecott, Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education.

Dr. Wong will lead the MD Program Assessment Committee and Competence Committee. Additionally, he will collaborate with the MD Program course leadership to implement the assessment strategy defined by the MD Program Curriculum Committee and will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the transition of the assessment strategy to competency-based medical education.

Dr. Eric Wong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Director of Faculty Development. He supported family medicine’s transition to CBME from 2010 to 2014 as Chair of the Triple C Competency-based Curriculum Task Force of the CFPC, designed and implemented an electronic assessment system for the family medicine residency program at Western as past Program Director and Assessment Coordinator. Dr. Wong has also served as the Director, Certification and Examinations at The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). He obtained his MD from Western University and completed his residency training in 2004.

We are delighted to have Dr. Wong join the MD Program leadership as we move into the next exciting phase of launching the renewed CBME curriculum. Dr. Wong’s term began on June 1, 2019.
