Presentation: Take a “Trip” Down Meaning Lane: The Impact of Psilocybin on Existential Distress
Presenters: Sumeet Bhardwaj, MD and Brendan Cassidy, MD BMSc 

Session Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the meaning of existential/spiritual distress and the current management options for it in palliative care.
  2. Critically analyze literature examining the use of psilocybin in the context of existential distress in a palliative care setting.
  3. Appreciate the potential role of psychedelics, especially psilocybin, in alleviating anxiety, depression and existential distress in those with life-limiting illnesses.
