CQUINS Members win big at 2023 MAC Awards

CQUINS is thrilled to announce that this year both the LHSC MAC Award and the St. Joseph’s MAC Award were presented to CQUINS members!

Dr. Julie Strychowsky

Dr. Julie Strychowsky, Paediatric Surgeon, is the recipient of the 2023 LHSC MAC Award, for demonstrating qualities of leadership and providing outstanding contributions to the success of initiatives aligning with the strategic directions of LHSC. In her role as the Director of Patient Safety and Quality Improvement for the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Strychowsky spearheaded the improvement of discharge summaries distributed within 48 hours, increasing the rate from 19% at baseline to over 90%. She also co-leads the Children’s Hospital QPSC Committee and is the co-chair of the Paediatric Surgery Quality Improvement/NSQIP Committee.

Dr. Ali Bateman

Dr. Ali Bateman, Medical Director, Acquired Brain Injury Program, is the recipient of the 2023 St. Joseph’s MAC Award, for demonstrating qualities of leadership and providing outstanding contributions to the success of initiatives aligning with the strategic directions of St. Joseph’s. Dr. Bateman co-chairs the St. Joseph’s Quality Council wherein, “She models leadership in quality by aligning our processes and decisions to best practices and is a reflective, engaged leader” (nomination quote). Dr. Bateman is also a committee member of the Parkwood Quality and Safety Council where she diligently aspires to improve patient and family experience.
