Schulich-Ivey Quality in Healthcare Consultancy Capstone Presentations 2022

CQUINS is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the 2021-2022 iteration of the Schulich-Ivey Quality in Healthcare Consultancy. Six teams, each composed of one clinician and four Ivey Business School students, completed the 6-month course that combined asynchronous learning modules on quality improvement methodology, bi-monthly lectures from industry experts, and teamwork applying QI principles to a clinically relevant care gap.

Capstone presentations were held the evening of Wednesday, March 30th and adjudicated by the following panel of judges: John Yoo, Dean, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry; Darren Meister, Assoc Dean, Ivey Business School; Jodi Younger, VP Patient Care & Quality, St. Joseph's Health Care London; Jim Calvin, Chair/Chief Dept. of Medicine, London Health Sciences Centre; Lisa Citton-Battel, Director, 3M; and Viral Patel, Senior Consultant, IQVIA.

First prize was awarded to Dr. Rishi Ganesan (Pediatric Critical Care) along with Ivey HBA students (Aimee Nguyen, Celeste Alaimo, Adam Lampert, and Gabriel Mancuso) for their project entitled “Nurse-led Advanced Monitoring for Non-convulsive Seizures in Encephalopathic Critically Ill Children.”

Second prize was awarded to the team led by Dr. Nelson Gonzalez, Anesthesiology. In collaboration with Ivey HBA students, Caroline Parsons, Jasmine Yu, Kathryn Beri, and Michael Lee, the team explored the “Liver Transplant Accelerated Recovery Program.”

Third prize was awarded to the team led by Dr. Robert Dinniwell, Radiation Oncology. In collaboration with Ivey HBA students, Mila Gracic, Gaurav Chahal, Rachel Bai, and Aliaa Abdelmeguid, the team explored “Improved Access to MRI for Treatment & Diagnosis.”
