Celebrating a Major Core Lab Milestone
Following 17 months of planning and implementation, our Core Labs at University Hospital, Victoria Hospital and St. Joseph’s Health Care have completed a major modernization with the successful introduction of new Roche chemistry analyzers and refreshed pre-analytical lines.
Our journey began with the Roche proposal signed on April 8, 2025, followed by project planning and an official kick-off on September 23, 2025. VH successfully completed its transition on March 31, 2026, followed by UH on July 14, 2026, and SJHC on September 29, 2026.
SJHC's journey was especially unique, as the team supported the technology transition while also moving the laboratory into a temporary space during renovations and ultimately transitioning back into the renovated permanent Core Lab.
This achievement represents an incredible amount of planning, teamwork, flexibility, coordination and problem-solving across all three sites. Teams managed equipment transitions, validations, workflow changes, analyzer relocations and laboratory moves, while also managing daily testing demands and supporting patient care.
To all our laboratory staff and everyone involved in this project, thank you.
Words on paper cannot fully express our gratitude for the time, effort and care you have devoted to this enormous undertaking. We appreciate your collaboration, knowledge sharing and continued focus on patient care throughout this project. It is a privilege to be part of this team and to celebrate this significant milestone for our Core Labs together.
