The following form is for the Dr. PH Brooke International Travel Award in Medicine, the Joan Scarfone Memorial Award and the Dr. Robert Tingley Class of 95 Developing Countries Award. Online submissions must be received by the Undergraduate Medical Education Office by Sep 5.


Dr. P.H. Brooke International Travel Award in Medicine

Awarded annually to a full-time student entering fourth year of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program who will be pursuing a medical overseas experience in an African country. This award is intended to assist with the travel or program expenses directly related to a medical overseas elective experience. Interested students are asked to submit an online application to the Undergraduate Medical Education Office by Sep 5th. The recipient will be selected by a committee from the Internationalization Office from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry with the approval of the Undergraduate Medical Education Awards Committee. This award was established by Dr. Priscilla Brooke (MD 1969). Dr. Brooke’s time spent as a medical doctor in several African countries was a life-altering experience.

Joan Scarfone Memorial Award

Awarded to a full-time student entering their fourth year of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program who, will be pursuing a medical overseas experience in a low-resource country and will travel within the next 6 months and will be awarded prior to the student's departure. Preference will be given to a student registered at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry Windsor Campus, however, if there are no qualified students that apply from the Windsor Campus the award may be distributed to qualified medical student at the London Campus. Interested students are asked to submit an online application to the Undergraduate Medical Education Office by Sep 5th. The recipient will be selected by a committee from the Internationalization Office from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry with the approval of the Progression & Awards Committee. This award was established by Dr. David John Scarfone (MD`82) in honour of his mother Joan.

Meds Class of 1995 Dr. Rob Tingley Memorial Award

Awarded to a full-time student entering their fourth year of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program who, will be pursuing a  medical overseas experience in a low-resource country and will travel within the next 6 months. This award is intended to assist with the travel or program expenses directly related to a medical overseas elective experience. Interested students are asked to submit an online application to the  Undergraduate Medical Education Office by Sep 5th. The recipient will be selected by a committee from the Internationalization Office from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry with the approval of the Undergraduate Medical Education Awards Committee.  This award was established by the friends and family of Dr. Rob Tingley of the Medical Class of 1995.  Dr. Tingley's elective in Kijabe, Kenya in 1994 was a life-altering experience.  His friends and family have chosen to honour his legacy by enabling future students to have similar experiences.
