Dr Paul Potter presents "Earliest extant Greek manuscripts of Diseases of Women I-II" at the Colloque Hippocratique meeting in Rome, Oct 25-27, 2018. Wonderful timing to coincide with new publication of Hippocrates Volume XI Diseases of Women 1-2, edited and translated by Paul Potter (the 11th and final volume in the Loeb Classical Library's complete edition of Hippocrates' texts). Congratulations Dr Potter!

The inaugural lecture for the newly introduced History of Medicine Visiting Speaker Series took place earlier this month with huge success. Nearly 100 people were in attendance for Dr. Dale C. Smith’s lecture, “Caring for the Wounded: How the Great War Medical Experience Shaped Post-War American Surgery.”

"Somebody Call the Doctor - Rural Medical Practices in the Late Nineteenth Century" is a new hallway case display outside MSB 146 and MSB 148 that showcases objects from the Medical Artifact Collection at Western. Stop to see some of the artifacts used in 'doctoring' when house calls and kitchen table surgery took place!
