Coming up in November 2022

“A Millennium of Medical Books” (Nov 10) will examine six medical books kept in the Jason A. Hannah Collection of Western's ARCC, dating from between 512 (a facsimile) and 1588 AD, as evidence for the important role the book played in the development and transmission of medical knowledge and practice over a thousand-year period.  Questions of their production, circulation, historical context, and scientific significance will be discussed, as well as various technical and economic aspects of their textual form and illustration. 

"Roundtable: Doing an Independent HoM Research Project: Picking a Topic, Researching a Research Question, Presenting my Findings"; (Nov 24) will be moderated by the Osler Society Co-Presidents, with demonstration presentations by Claire Vannelli, Med2025 on “Tuberculosis Public Health Posters, 1910s-1960s” and Rahman Ladak, Med2025, on “A history of mRNA-based vaccine approaches”
