Congratulations & Best Wishes to Dr. Larry Schmidt
After more than 40 years in family medicine, Dr. Larry Schmidt is closing his practice and marking the end of an exceptional career defined by dedication to his patients, learners, and community. A Western graduate (MD ’83) who joined the Department of Family Medicine in 1993, Dr. Schmidt built a long-standing full-time clinical practice in London, including many years at St. Joseph’s Health Care London, while also serving as a deeply committed clinical academic. He was a valued teacher and mentor to generations of medical students and residents, with particularly meaningful contributions to family medicine obstetrics and interprofessional care. Even after transitioning to a part-time clinical academic role, he remained actively engaged in teaching while continuing his work as a family physician in Sauble Beach, ON. As he now retires fully, we extend our sincere thanks for his decades of service and the lasting impact he has had on learners, colleagues, and patients alike, and wish him all the very best in this next chapter.
