Announcements

The Centre for Studies in Family Medicine, Department of Family Medicine welcomes Priya Garg as the new TUTOR-PHC Program Coordinator. Priya will be supporting TUTOR-PHC, as well as the OSSU Capacity Building Initiative and the PORTL-PHC program. 

Priya grew up in Melbourne, Australia where she trained as a physiotherapist. Prior to joining Western, she was working as a Research Associate in the areas of osteoarthritis and myopathies with the Rheumatology Dept at St Joseph’s Hospital, London. She has worked as a clinician in Australia in various settings such as Community Rehab, Women’s Health, inpatient rehabilitation and was involved in setting up the Community Stroke Prevention Service in Melbourne. After transitioning into research, she worked with the Stroke Ischemia Group at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston prior to moving to Canada.

Grant Funding

Dr. Kevin Pottie is a Co-Principal Applicant on a new CIHR Operating Grant for 2022: “Investigating COVID-19 Vaccine Outreach Strategies for Marginalized Newcomer Communities.” This community mixed method research will be carried out in collaboration with the University of Calgary, University of Alberta and Western University. 

Dr. Moira Stewart and Dr. Amanda Terry are Co-Principal Investigators on a CIHR grant: OSSU Training and Capacity Development. This project focuses on enhancing capacity for patient engagement in research in Ontario. Co-investigators: L. Bayliss, J. Lavis, A. Lyddiatt, C. MacArthur, J. Riley, S. Straus, N. Jones, C. Victor, S. Law. CND: $300,000. April 2021 to March 2024.
