Celebrating our achievements

Dr. Sonja Reichert, Assistant Professor in Family Medicine, has been appointed to the Brian W. Gilbert Chair in Primary Health Care in the Department of Family Medicine for a five year term commencing July 1 2019.

Dr. Reichert joined the Department in 2011. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a BSc in Kinesiology, and then completed a Master’s of Science at the University of Toronto before going into Medicine. Dr. Reichert graduated from McMaster University with her MD, and then went on to complete her family medicine residency at Western University, including a PGY3 year in Enhanced Skills focussing on Chronic Disease Management, one of our first graduates from that Enhanced Skills program. Dr. Reichert’s clinical and research interests are in metabolic disease, particularly Diabetes and Obesity.

The Gilbert Chair award will be a significant enhancement to her career and will facilitate the further development of her independent research program within the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine and the Department of Family Medicine.
