Football Fans in Training (FFIT) Glasgow

In the United Kingdom, the Football Fans in Training (FFIT) program was developed to encourage men to lead a healthier lifestyle through a sport-related medium. In January, Dr. Rob Petrella, Dawn Gill PhD,  and Ashleigh De Cruz travelled to Glasgow to meet with collaborators from the University of Glasgow and the University of Aberdeen, as well as the Scottish Professional Football League, to develop and design Hockey Fans in Training (Hockey FIT) – a gender-sensitized, healthy living and physical activity program delivered through a sport-related medium (hockey). A pilot pragmatic randomized controlled trial of Hockey FIT will be launched this month in both London and Sarnia, in collaboration with the London Knights and the Sarnia Sting.
