Dr. Carol Buck

CarolBuck_160x180.pngThe late Dr. Carol Buck was affiliated with the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics from 1952-2004. Dr. Buck was the first female chair at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, and served in this position from 1967-1977.
Passionate about advancing human health, Dr. Buck was an international leader in her discipline and a respected teacher who significantly impacted students and colleagues.

The Carol Buck Lecture and Graduate Scholarship in Epidemiology was established to honour Dr. Buck. Throughout her career, Dr. Carol Buck’s work demonstrated a passionate commitment to advancing human health. Using rigorous methods of epidemiology to identify and correct the causes and determinants of ill-health, she became an international leader in the discipline. Carol’s colleagues and former students respected her amazing clarity of thought and communication.
