Elaine Tang
Dr. Elaine Tang is a Clinician-Researcher and Assistant Professor in the Division of General Surgery with a cross-appointment in Critical Care Medicine. She holds a Master’s degree in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety from the Institute for Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation (IHPME) at the University of Toronto, and a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery from McGill University.
Clinically, Dr. Tang specializes in abdominal wall reconstruction and complex hernia repairs. Her research bridges General Surgery and Critical Care Medicine, with a strong focus on improving patient outcomes and driving system-level change through quality improvement (QI) science.
Passionate about advancing healthcare quality, Dr. Tang is actively engaged in multiple QI initiatives across General Surgery, Trauma, and Critical Care Medicine. She is also a dedicated educator, mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows in QI methodology and project development.
As the Education Lead for the Centre for Quality, Safety, and Innovation (CQuINS), Dr. Tang is excited to collaborate with QI leaders and learners alike to foster a vibrant community of improvement-minded professionals at LHSC and Western University. She’s always eager to exchange ideas, champion innovation, and help shape the future of patient care through thoughtful, evidence-based change.
