Kristen Bishop, Phd, MSc, BHSC (Hons.) is a researcher at the Centre for Education Research and Innovation (CERI) and adjunct faculty in the Department of Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University. She is also a founding member and manager of the Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU) Quality Improvement and Education Research Hub (CQuIER). Kristen’s QI activities include the implementation of various change ideas aimed at preventing the progression of frailty and promoting mobility on the inpatient medicine units. Her focus is also geriatrics, particularly those aging with long-term disability, and engaging in improvement efforts that target some of the most vulnerable patients in our health care system. Particularly impactful is her ongoing work exploring the transfer and prioritization of at-risk medicine patients for expedited transfer from the ED to inpatient medicine units and efforts to reduce downstream inpatient complications and LOS, improve access and flow challenges, and identify areas for optimization.
