Request a New Website
If you’re looking to create a new website for your research group or faculty needs, here’s a step-by-step guide to our process:
Evaluation
Our team will start by assessing your needs and goals for the new website. This includes:
- Understanding your target audience.
- Defining the purpose of the site (e.g., showcasing research, recruiting students, sharing publications).
- Reviewing and organizing your content structure to ensure it aligns with your objectives.
New Site Request & Initial Setup
Once your needs are clear, we’ll proceed with:
- Requesting the site on our content management system (Cascade CMS).
- Implementing the necessary templates and site structure.
- This step involves extensive configuration and collaboration across departments. Please allow up to six weeks for completion. Please see the FAQ below for a full timeline outline.
Content Population
After the initial setup, it’s time to populate the site with content:
- Your group is asked to add content to each page of the site, including edited, final web copy, images, and other materials.
- Before gaining access to the new site, you’ll need to complete training on our Cascade content management system.
- Our team can guide you on best practices for content creation, including accessibility and usability.
Site Review
Before launch, we’ll review the site together to ensure it:
- Meets Schulich and Western’s web standards.
- Functions correctly on all devices (mobile-friendly).
- Has clear and accurate content.
- Is optimized for accessibility and user experience.
Site Launch & Ongoing Maintenance
Once the review is complete:
- We’ll launch the site for you and your team.
- Our team remains available for support, troubleshooting, and periodic reviews to ensure your site remains effective and compliant with web standards.
