Spotlight on One Health

One Health Day

November 3, 2020, marks the fifth annual One Health Day, a global campaign that celebrates and brings attention to the need for a One Health approach to address shared health threats at the human-animal-environment interface.  Dr. Olea-Popelka was invited to participate in two panels to celebrate this year’s campaign.

The first event was held virtually on November 3, 2020 in collaboration with the University of Guelph. Dr. Olea-Popelka presented a talk entitled “One Health”. Twelve Western students presented their One Health research projects at this event.

The second talk entitled “Strengthening Global Resilience Through One Health: A 2020 Vision for a Sustainable Future” was on November 5, 2020 at the Ohio State University 2020 Global One Health Day Conference. Dr. Olea-Popelka participated in the panel focusing on Health Capacity Building and Implementation Science and presented “To improve health science is 100% necessary, but not sufficient”.
