At the end of September, the annual meeting for the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics was held jointly along side the Banff Foundation for Allograft Pathology in Pittsburgh, PA. In attendance this year from the Transplant Lab were Director Dr. Xu and technologist Monica Freeman. The joint scientific meeting was intended to promote collaboration between experts in solid organ transplant pathology and histocompatibility/immunogenetics. The objective of this alliance was advancing diagnostic testing for solid organ transplant recipients with an emphasis on the immunology and pathology of antibody-mediated rejection.

It was a great week spent sharing experiences and ideas with other HLA professionals from all over the world. Numerous professionals presented their latest research, innovations in testing and interesting case studies. The week was capped off with the presentation of a Scholar Abstract award to Dr. Xu for his publication: Effect of Autoantibodies on Long-Term Survival of Liver Re-Transplant.
