Congratulations to Dr. Derek Cool - Recipient of AMOSO funding

Derek has just received approval for AMOSO funding of $97,500 over 2 years for "Development and Evaluation of a 3D Ultrasound Guidance System for Ablation of Liver and Kidney Cancers."
It was a highly competitive adjudication with 21 proposals submitted.

The Opportunities Fund was established in 2002 by the Academic Medical Organization of Southwestern Ontario (AMOSO) to support local physician compensation for teaching and research projects. The fund was created by an allocation of academic funding provided to the London Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) through the AHSC Alternate Funding Plan (AFP) and is held twice annually in Spring and Fall. The AMOSO Opportunities Fund provides physician compensation for a new academic role for an existing AFP Participating Physician or a new AFP Participating Physician recruit.

All radiologists should be looking to grant fund their projects, especially those with protected academic time.

The AMOSO funding stream is very competitive but has a relatively high rate of return compared to Tricouncil funding.
